MadMuscles launches adaptive fitness program
When fitness meets inclusion, real change happens!
At Movao, we celebrate initiatives that create new fitness pathways and opportunities, especially those that help our community rebuild their lives after limb loss. Part of an amputee's rehabilitation journey involves incorporating fitness — and it's about much more than training. It's about building confidence, staying mobile, and living independently.
That's why we're excited to share the launch of MadMuscles' new Adaptive Training Program, created in collaboration with the Invictus Games community in Ukraine — an adaptive training program designed for people with a wide range of disabilities, including amputees, people with limb differences, those with limited mobility, veterans recovering from injury, and anyone living with a chronic condition.
And the best part? It's completely free.

What makes it stand out
The adaptive plan starts with a short quiz that customizes your workouts based on your abilities, amputation type, and level of mobility. From there, it generates a personalized exercise plan that you can follow at home. You can even create a workout schedule and receive reminder notifications for your planned workout days.
All exercises can be performed with simple equipment or even just your own body weight, making it easy to get started from the comfort of your own home. The workouts are organized into adaptive categories, including options for single-limb and multiple-limb training plans, and cater to individuals managing chronic pain or limited mobility.
The program is also available in several languages and accessible worldwide. It also features motivational videos from adaptive athletes, coaches, and veterans who have rebuilt their strength during and after rehabilitation — people who truly understand your journey.

Who can use the program?
MadMuscles distinguishes itself by not providing generic "one-size-fits-all" workouts. Instead, it's an adaptive program developed by professional coaches — some of whom are amputees themselves — or trained specialists in adaptive fitness to accommodate various types of limb loss and mobility challenges.
The workouts are divided into six adaptive categories, making it easy for anyone to find the right plan for their body and ability level:
- Combined impairment: One or both lower limbs and one upper limb
- Both arms: Double amputation or equivalent impairment
- Both legs: Spinal cord injury, double amputation, or equivalent impairment
- One arm: Amputation or functional impairment
- One leg: Amputation or functional impairment
- Preserved functionality: All limbs are partially or fully functional, but physical activity may be limited by pain or mobility challenges
Each category offers safe and effective routines that can be done from home, backed by real-life inspiration from the Ihry Neskorenykh (Invictus Games Ukraine) community and adaptive sports influencers who have faced similar challenges on their journey to rebuilding their strength.

Why fitness matters
Fitness extends beyond aesthetics, muscle tone, or being the strongest. It's about rediscovering movement, rebuilding confidence, and feeling empowered. It involves learning from others, forming connections, and finding a community that understands your journey.
For many amputees, including myself, everyday movement requires extra energy — and many new amputees soon discover that walking 100 yards can feel more like 500. Everything feels harder — because, truthfully, it is. Strengthening our core and glutes helps carry the additional weight of a prosthesis and greatly improves balance, comfort, and confidence when using one.
The power of movement gives a natural endorphin boost to our emotional well-being, helping us navigate the challenges and barriers faced by people with disabilities with newfound strength and empowerment.
