Ep. 5 Bionics in motion. Johannes Floors on athletic excellence.

Published on December 17, 2025

In this episode of Taste of Bionics, host Ranga Yogeshwar is joined by Johannes Floors — Paralympic champion, world record holder, Ottobock Ambassador, and member of Ottobock’s Research & Development team.

Johannes shares his extraordinary journey from living with constant pain to becoming one of the fastest sprinters in the world on prosthetic blades. He opens up about the life-changing decision to amputate both legs below the knee at just 16, what true freedom felt like the first time he ran again, and how sport transformed his sense of possibility.

Beyond the track, Johannes is also a trained orthopaedic technician, currently completing a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, and plays an active role in shaping the future of prosthetic technology at Ottobock. Together, he and Ranga explore how elite sport, engineering, and human curiosity intersect — and how technology, resilience, and innovation continue to redefine what it means to be human.
